Smoothie (my go-to!)

I titled this recipe “Smoothie” because that’s what we call it in my house. When my kids ask me for a smoothie, this is what they get. I’ve been making this smoothie recipe for years. It’s my go-to, and my kids probably don’t even realize that you can make other kinds of smoothies. I discovered my love for blended strawberry + mango thanks to Tropical Smoothie back in the day. Ever since, I’ve been buying frozen strawberries and frozen mango in bulk from Costco. Add to that frozen blueberries, which is also a staple in my freezer, and I can almost always blend-up and serve this smoothie recipe when I have nothing else in my fridge!

I make this smoothie for breakfast or a snack 1-2x a week for my kids, exactly as written below. When I make it for me, I use almond milk instead of whole milk and add a half a frozen banana (it helps create a creamy texture without the whole milk). I keep the yogurt because I like the probiotics it provides, but if you wanted to make this dairy-free you could swap to coconut yogurt or eliminate it all together. If you do that, I definitely recommend adding a frozen banana to give it a creamier texture. I add chia seeds because they are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, collagen powder when I am looking for some extra protein, and spinach whenever I have some in my fridge for a micro boost of vitamins and minerals.

This smoothie recipe makes 2-3 kid size portions, or 1-2 adult size portions. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 frozen strawberries

  • 6-7 frozen mango pieces

  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries

  • 1 handful spinach

  • 1/3 cup whole milk Greek yogurt

  • 3/4 cup - 1 cup whole milk

  • 2 Tbsp collagen powder (optional)

  • 1 tsp chia seeds (optional)

Instructions:

  • Add all ingredients to blender and blend! Start with 3/4 cup of milk and add more if needed to blend everything all together.
